FracMulti -- What's the Question

This lesson plan is an excerpt from FracMulti Resource Book

OBJECTIVES:
This game allows the student to:
* use problem-solving skills in mastering multiplication of fractions.
* analyze and identify the various possibilities and patterns of fractions.
* use tools and number sense to solve problems.
??Questions anyone?? Create the most multiplication problems for the given fraction and receive the highest score!

MATERIALS NEEDED:
FracMulti Activity Booklet
FracMulti sets
Paper or index cards (any size)
Pen or Pencil
Timer or Stopwatch

DIRECTIONS:
1.   The leader distributes a set of FracMulti to each student or team and advises them to write only on their paper. The leader keeps score or designates a student who will keep score.
2.   The leader selects an answer from the FracMulti Activity Booklet solution manual and writes the answer on the board for students to view.
3.   Students use FracMulti to find and write as many problems as possible for the answer in one minute.
4.   Each team selects a member to write their problems on the board. No repetition of problems allowed. One point is given for each non-repetitive correct problem. This activity continues until an established time limit or point total is reached.

SUGGESTIONS:
1.   For beginners, use the FracMulti Activity Booklet to find the problems.
2.   For more advanced students, have the students create original problems with unreduced fractions. For example: 2/5 = 12/30 = 4/5 x 3/6 or =3/5 x 4/6
